This project uses synthetic biotechnology to construct engineering bacteria and efficiently fermentation a variety of amino acids, including L-tryptophan, 5-hydroxytryptophan, L-homoserine, L-arginine, L-ornithine, L-threonine, L-homophenylalanine and so on.

This project uses advanced synthetic biotechnology to construct a variety of highly efficient strains for amino acid production.

  • The 5-hydroxytryptophan fermentation acid production level reached 28-30 g/L;

The product has completed the pilot test, and a number of products have been applied to enterprise production.

4. Application and market

Amino acids can be used in feed, food additives and medicine and other fields, the market demand is large, high output value.

Taking L-tryptophan as an example, its current domestic production is 20,000 tons/year, the demand is more than 30,000 tons, and the gap is 10,000 tons, relying on imports to meet the demand.

With the implementation of the three-year action plan for soybean meal replacement by the Ministry of Agriculture, the demand for essential amino acids has increased significantly, and the domestic market for L-tryptophan will usher in great opportunities for development in the future.
